About the internship
In the framework of the ARRICE project (Africa Regional Resilience Initiative on
Climate Education), the Office for Climate Education (OCE) is offering a 4-month
internship opportunity for a Kenyan Master’s-level student in 2026, through funding of the
French embassy in Kenya. The internship is expected to start in September 2026.
The internship will take place in Paris, France, within the OCE team, in close collaboration
with KOEE in Kenya. The internship includes a monthly remuneration.
The selected intern will contribute to strengthening Climate Change Education (CCE) in
Kenya by supporting the work of adaptation and implementation of OCE’s pedagogical
resources and trainings in African contexts, particularly in Kenya.
The selected intern will develop knowledge and hands-on experience in climate change
education, particularly in its integration into national curricula, the definition of competencies,
and the importance of contextualizing content within curricula. This experience will
ultimately be valuable in supporting the development of climate change education upon their
return to Kenya.

Main responsibilities
The intern will be involved in the following activities:
● Adaptation of educational resources
o Analyse Kenyan curricula.
o Develop a comparative tool showing the alignment between Kenyan curricula,
OCE lessons, and the Greening Curriculum Framework.
o Support the contextualization of OCE teaching materials to African and Kenyan contexts
o Contribute to ensuring cultural, environmental, and pedagogical relevance of the resources
● Capacity building of trainers
o Support the development of training activities for ARRICE trainers in Climate Change Education
o Contribute to training content and facilitation tools
● Remote support to the programme in Kenya
o Coordinate closely with KOEE and local partners to support pilot schools
o Assist in developing guidelines for school-based climate projects, led by students and for promoting a whole-school and community approach, engaging teachers, students, and local stakeholders
● Coordination and documentation
o Contribute to reporting, documentation of activities, and capitalization of lessons learned

Profile and eligibility criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
● Kenyan nationality
● Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Master’s degree program
(Bachelor’s degree required)
● Excellent academic record: Bachelor and master (if applicable) transcripts required
● Analytical skills
● Basic knowledge of the “competency-based curricula” concept
● Strong interest in climate change, climate change education, environmental education, or sustainable development
● Ability to work in an international and multicultural environment
● Strong writing and communication skills in English

This internship is funded through a French Government Scholarship (BGF).
